It is also known as a converging mirror because it causes parallel light rays to converge at a single point called the focus after reflecting off the surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If u, v and f represents object distance, image distance and focal length of a concave mirror respectively, the relation between them is given by;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1\/f =1\/v+1\/u<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PROCEDURE<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mount concave mirror at the one end (0 cm scale) of optical bench with lens holder.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mount one needle as object at middle of optical bench.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mount another needle at the another end of optical bench with needle holder taken as image.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Look at he object needle on the the mirror from image needle in front of the lens.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The object needle must be seen as inverted.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Try to make height of image an object image is equal.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Try to conside tip of object and image needle by moving either image needle or object needle.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Then remove parallax error by moving head and image needle together.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If parallax error was removed then tip of object and image needle fixed with moving head i.e: they are not separated.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">OBSERVATION<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>S.N<\/strong>.<\/td><td><strong>Position of Mirror(M)<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Position of Object(O)<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Position of Image(I)<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Object distance (u)=O-<\/strong>M<\/td><td><strong>Image distance (v)=I-<\/strong>M<\/td><td><strong>m=v\/u<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>1\/u<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>1\/v<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>1\/f=1\/v+1\/u<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>f<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Mean f =\u03a3f\/n<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>1<\/td><td>0 cm<\/td><td>14.7 cm<\/td><td>49.5 cm<\/td><td>-14.7 cm<\/td><td>-49.5 cm<\/td><td>3.367<\/td><td>-0.068027<\/td><td>-0.020202<\/td><td>-0.088229<\/td><td>-11.33 cm<\/td><td>11.33 cm<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>2<\/td><td><\/td><td><\/td><td><\/td><td><\/td><td><\/td><td><\/td><td><\/td><td><\/td><td><\/td><td><\/td><td><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>3<\/td><td><\/td><td><\/td><td><\/td><td><\/td><td><\/td><td><\/td><td><\/td><td><\/td><td><\/td><td><\/td><td><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Observation Table<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">RESULT<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The focal length of given concave mirror is <strong><em>11.33<\/em><\/strong> cm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">CONCLUSION<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Hence focal length of concave mirror was calculated by optical bench method<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PRECAUTION<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Parallax error must be minimized.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Distance must be measured accurately.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MATERIAL REQUIRED Concave Mirror, Optical Bench THEORY A concave mirror is a spherical mirror with a reflective surface that curves inward, resembling the interior of a bowl or a cave.
