The pressure exerted by atmosphere is called atmospheric pressure. The atmosphere exerts pressure about 1.013 \u2716 10 <sup>5<\/sup> N\/m<sup>-2<\/sup> or 760 mm of Hg at Sea level. Atmospheric pressure can hold about 10 m high water column.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pokharelsugam.com.np\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/atmospheric-pressure-1024x475.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-310\" width=\"687\" height=\"319\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PROCEDURE<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Take a glass filled with water and cover it with a postcard.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Invert the glass tumbler supporting the postcard against the glass with your palm.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Now, hold the glass with your hand and remove the supporting palm slowly. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">OBSERVATION<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You will find that the water does not fall down. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">RESULT<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Atmospheric pressure exerted on the postcard hold the water in tumbler. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">CONCLUSION<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This activity confirms that the atmosphere exerts pressure on a body from its all sides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PRECAUTION<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Apparatus should be handled with care.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Postcard should not be too thick or too thin.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Water should be filled enough up to the rim of tumbler.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Air bubble must be avoided between postcard and water.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MATERIAL REQUIREDS A glass tumbler, water, postcard THEORY The force per unit area is called pressure.
